23rd Convocation Ceremony of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU)
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has made two important announcements, leading Karnataka to become a global study destination and promoting international education.
The university has announced that it will align its calendar of events with that of the international academic calendar. This adjustment aims to relieve the students of the hassles they face during the admission process at foreign universities.
Additionally, VTU has proposed conducting two convocations per year. The university understands the challenges that graduating students often encounter when asked to submit their degree certificates while applying for jobs in companies and the public sector.
During a press conference before the commencement of the convocation, Vice-Chancellor Prof Vidyashankar shared that the first part of the 23rd annual convocation took place on August 1, 2023. This part awarded degrees to undergraduate (UG) and research students. Further, he announced that the second part of the convocation would be on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:30 am at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium 'Jnana Sangama' in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). This ceremony would confer degrees to postgraduate and research students.
During the second part of the convocation, VTU conferred degrees to 4,514 MBA students, 4,024 to MCA, 920 to M Tech, 44 to M Arch, and 27 to M Plan students. Additionally, Research Degrees were awarded to 667 PhD students, MSc (Engg) by Research to 2 students, and 2 Integrated Dual degrees to Research Scholars.
